When I heard that today is National Radio Day, I went back, all the way back, to my early days in broadcasting. I was known as "Merri Dee, the HoneyBee" at WBEE in Harvey, Illinois. What great training ground for me - I did it all from booking and interviewing my guests, answering the phone, getting callers on-air, managing the switcher, spinning the records, and making the coffee. Phew, I'm tired just thinking about it. To all those who've been on-air, and those who are on-air today, I salute you: HAPPY NATIONAL RADIO DAY!
